DRUNK WITH THE MOON, LIPO SPEAKS

by Felix Fojas

I, who used to be

A drunken, carefree

Poet, paddled my

Leaky boat that night–

When the river

Shimmered silver–

Toward the moon

And sipped its roundness

Like mellow wine.

Reeking of lunacy,

I waxed, became full,

And waned in turn.

It was a bewildering

But exhilarating

Sensation to be

No longer human.
