by Felix Fojas

for My Muse of Light, Lover’s Delight!

Like a playful puppy

Who is running after

And tries to catch

A bone its master

Has thrown up in

The morning air,

Or as a hungry cat

Pursues with guile,

Might and speed

Its favorite dish

In the quivering shape

Of a terrified mouse,

O my beloved muse,

Please forgive your

Persistent pet

And humble poet

For hounding you

And tracking down

The dainty footsteps

Of your kisses

To the perilous

Edge of the universe;

For loving you

Has become such

A fine instinct and

Second nature to me.
